Good Thursday Morning. Bringing you an abbreviated, “snack size” version of SBP this week.
Five Interesting, Funny, and Touching Things that Happened in Sports This Week
#1: Caitlin Clark makes history (again)
Clark took down another record, fittingly passing “Pistol” Pete Maravich this past weekend to become the NCAA’s all-time leading scoring leader for both men’s and women’s basketball. The game vs. Ohio State did massive numbers, and Nike gave her an A+ tribute.
When Caitlin Clark was a kid, her dad couldn’t find a girls league for her age.
So she joined a boys league and won an AAU state championship.
Parents even complained she shouldn’t be allowed to play with boys.
Now, Clark owns the NCAA scoring record—for both men and women 🐐

Impressive 3.4 million viewers on Fox for Iowa-Ohio State on Sunday afternoon. Beyond women's college hoops superlatives, Caitlin Clark's record-setting game was:
🔲 Higher than both TNT NBA Opening Night games this season
🔲 Higher than Victor Wembanyama's NBA debut on ESPN— Austin Karp (@AustinKarp)

#2: Speaking of records, LeBron became the first ever player to reach 40,000 points in a career. His dominance and longevity are something we’ve never seen before, and I don’t know if we ever will again.
This is what 40,000 points looks like. Congrats, LeBron.

#3: Dartmouth’s Men Basketball team voted 13-2 today to unionize. This won’t have an immediate effect, but it goes to show what we were talking about last week: the tides are shifting all around college athletics.
The Dartmouth men's basketball team voted 13-2 for Service Employees International Union Local 560 to represent them in a union.

#4: A wild story about an NAIA school shutting down but their basketball teams continuing on in the postseason.
There are plenty of interesting questions in college sports these days, but @DanielLibit just found the most fascinating:
Can a college team keep playing if its school ceases to exist?

#5: Jason Kelce, brother of Mr. Taylor Swift, announced his retirement from the NFL today (clip below — full 40-minute video here). Jason was not only one of the best centers in the league, but the outpouring of love he’s received from players, media, staffers, fans, and more show why he’s considered one of the best, most respected people in the game.
An all-time great giving an all-time great retirement speech.
@JasonKelce, forever a legend.

Eagles trainer Joe O’Pella has taped Jason Kelce’s ankles for 13 seasons.
But because of his own chemotherapy treatments, he missed Kelce’s last NFL game.
So, Joe says that Kelce allowed him to tape his ankles one more time before his retirement press conference.

We're still feeling the effects of Monday's @JasonKelce retirement, if we're being honest, and the stories being shared about the @Eagles legend:
