#3: Putting aside the issues NIL has brought to the college game, this framing correctly shows the net positives — more guys making generational money and therefore choosing to stay longer in college instead of hoping for the best in the NBA Draft, which makes the on-court product better in the long run
This is the real NIL story. Guys knowing they don't have to turn pro to make money. Top earners in CBB making money comparable to late first round picks. Players getting more time to develop. This is a great thing for everyone: players, teams, coaches and the NBA. This matters.

#4: Speaking of the college game, this move by Kentucky to spin off its athletic department into an LLC is 👀
Kentucky is considering spinning off its athletic department into an LLC, called Champions Blue, in order to prepare for the upcoming revenue-sharing era.
Schools are preparing for revenue-sharing—and the Wildcats are embracing it.

🗯️ My thought bubble: We know this was coming, but we are officially entering the professionalization of sports era. Kentucky’s decision to have its athletic department drop its tax-exempt status and become for-profit means it will be able to be much more aggressive with both its revenue growth and spending — two things that will be required to compete in the new world.
Other schools have likely thought about this before or are in discussions, but expect this trend to pick up some steam for the schools in the major conferences that have the scale and war chest to make this bold move.
